Hello Film Clubbers!
For multiple reasons, Film Club has to be postponed one day. We will meet Tuesday, January 9th, at the usual time of 6:30 pm. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any of you. I would’ve postponed it to the following Monday if it weren’t a holiday. I hope you can join us Tuesday to discuss Killers of the Flower Moon and Clearcut.
While I suspect Killers of the Flower Moon will dominate our discussion, it’ll be interesting to see how Clearcut works its way in — you can stream it now on Kanopy.
There’s no shortage of good (and bad) writing on Killers of the Flower Moon. I’ve shared some of the good stuff below. Also, for the book readers among you, you should come talk books at the library tomorrow! Details below.

This piece for TIME provides some solid background behind the Osage murders.
Kelly Reichardt fans have known Lily Gladstone to be a special star in the making for years, which makes it all the more satisfying to see her launch into the mainstream. This profile in ELLE offers some great insight into the former Seattleite.
This piece in Vulture collects some responses to the film from the indigenous film community — this article linked within that piece goes a little further.
Alyssa Wilkinson writes about the wisest choice made in Killers of the Flower Moon.
Director of Photography Rodrigo Prieto goes deep on working with Scorsese and capturing the look of the film.
This NYT profile on Jack Fisk, the legendary set designer, is a must-read.
Robbie Robertson finished the score for Killers of the Flower Moon just before he died. It’s an extraordinary final artistic statement.
Not much depth, but some cool behind-the-scenes images from the Oklahoma shoot.
Come talk books with us this Saturday!! There will be snacks and refreshments and a generally good time.
I will be there, it will be my first time, I have not seen the film THE KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON, I did see the documentary though. I am native American, so the documentary was hard to watch, however, I would love to give my input on what I thought of the story and how it affected my opinion on how they made it into a movie.
I’ll be there in Tuesday (and happy I can watch the Huskies beat the dastardly Wolverines)! Excited I’ll get to watch Clearcut this weekend with my fancy new Blu-Ray I got for the holidays.
